Buying glasses online requires knowing your measurements. Here is how to measure your face to find frames that fit perfectly.
Key Measurements
Eyewear frames are measured in three dimensions: lens width, bridge width, and temple length. These are typically printed on the inside of the temple arm.
Lens Width
This is the horizontal width of each lens, measured in millimeters. Most adult frames range from 46mm to 60mm. Smaller faces suit 46-50mm, medium faces 50-54mm, and larger faces 54mm and above.
Bridge Width
This is the distance between the two lenses. If you have a narrow nose, look for bridge widths of 18mm or less. Wider noses suit 20mm and above.
Temple Length
This is the length of the arm that goes over your ear. Standard lengths are 135mm, 140mm, and 145mm. Most adults fit comfortably with 140mm.
Using a Ruler
Stand in front of a mirror with a ruler in millimeters. Measure the width of your face from temple to temple, then subtract 10mm to estimate your ideal lens width.
